Sleep apnea is a potentially serious sleep-disordered breathing problem in which breathing repeatedly stops and starts during your sleep. If you snore loudly and feel tired even after a full night's sleep, you might have sleep apnea.
Some of the typical symptoms of person having sleep apnea is snoring, gasping or choking during sleep, restless sleep, repeated awakening, morning headaches, excessive daytime sleepiness even after a full night's sleep, sleepy when sitting for long period e.g. driving, reading, etc. You would need to do a sleep study test called polysomnography or a category 3 home sleep test to diagnose if you have sleep apnea.
A CPAP machine is a medical device that is prescribed by a physician to a patient who suffers from sleep apnea. It is a machine that delivers steady flow of air (Continuous Positive Air Pressure) through a mask to keep your air passage open and helps you breathe normally.
